Summer reflections

I have been too busy to paint lately. I picked up a brush on the weekend in response to a gentle prod from my friend. In the picture I was trying to get the water reflections right. Enjoy!

Chris watching the waves

Monique riding the waves

I am still trying to figure out how to take photos without reflections. I keep painting, but tend to run out of time to photograph and post. Perhaps on the weekend I could post a number of recent paintings.

Two boats in Italy

The brightness of the boats against bright blue water was fascinating.

Red Poppy

The sun was hitting the flower in just the right way to make it glow. I was trying to convey the "glowing" feeling.

Sunset, Lake Superior

I am having some trouble getting the painting photographed without reflections.

The painting is of the clouds over lake Superior in July. The weather there changes very frequently. A  storm was coming in. We were roasting marshmallows, talking and watching the drama in the sky.

Rainy Sunday in Portland, OR - October 10, 2010

This is my first experience with blogging.

I will try to paint and post one picture per day.
Today's picture is that of sand cliffs of Madeline Island in Lake Superior. We went kayaking that hot morning in late July of this year. The water was still. We saw a bald eagle swooping down to catch a fish. The air was sparkling and the only sounds we could hear were the remote loon calls and the sounds our paddles made when hitting the water.
